Councillor Marlene Bennett MBE said:

On behalf of the Council and Officers, I would like to extend our deepest condolences to HRH Queen Elizabeth II and the Royal Family. We hope we can speak on behalf of Alfreton residents in showing our respect at this time to our nations' Royal Family.

Due to Covid-19 a hard copy book of condolence will not be available, an online book is available at Amber Valley Borough Council https://www.ambervalley.gov.uk/book-of-condolence

If you wish to pay your respects by laying flowers, these can be placed outside Alfreton House.

As a beacon of hope Alfreton Town Council would love to see everyone grow a sunflower in their front gardens or in pots if you do not have a garden, supporting AVBC's initiative.
We would like to see the whole of the Borough brought to life with colour, hopefully all four Town Councils will be taking part. Alfreton, Belper, Heanor and Ripley.
Please all get involved and share your creations with us, let’s see who can nurture the biggest Sunflower!
A few will be planted in Alfreton House – watch out for them soon…
Support the High Street and buy local, seeds can be purchased from Taylors Corn Stores, Gee Jays, Co-op, Wilkos and if there is anywhere else, let us know...
